Lakadong is actually a village in Meghalaya located in the Jaintia Hills. Turmeric grown in Lakadong and Jaintia hills is considered to be the world’s best turmeric because of their high curcumin content which is about 6.8 – 12% and has a very strong aromatic fragrance.  Turmeric grown in other states has a relatively low curcumin content with less than 5%
